PXE Issue after SCCM CB 1806 upgrade

Recently i had upgraded my SCCM environment 1806 and after upgrade suddenly all PXE servers stopped working.

While initiating the PXE request we got an error “TFTP response time out” its clearly says some issue on PXE and when I checked the SMSPXE log file then I found something wrong and that error says PXE server could not contact with MP server.

Then I checked in SCCM server found after upgrade Microsoft has introduced new feature in PXE that is Enable a PXE responder without Windows Deployment Services.

That’s why all PXE servers stopped working,

To resolve that issues we found a workaround cum solution which is need to reinstall PXE again on DP and change a registry value in PXE server.

Solution:-

  1. Remove PXE from DP server
  2. Wait for complete the process and DP server will show status msg for restart the server
  3. Restart the DP server
  4. Remove RemoteInstall folder from DP server
  5. Reinstall the PXE again on DP server
  6. Then you need to change the registry value on PXE server

Go to PXE server and open registry and navigate the path as follows

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WDSServer\Providers\WDSPXE

And change the value of UseDhcpPorts from 1 to 0

Restart the WDS services.

And your PXE issue will resolve.
